Catherine the Great

Catherine is the German-born wife of Tsar Peter III, who has ruled Russia for six months and managed in that time to alienate the Orthodox Church, insult the military, and reverse Russian gains in the Seven Years War by returning conquered territory to his hero, Frederick the Great of Prussia. The Imperial Guard, the most powerful military force in Russia, despises him. Catherine has spent seventeen years at the Russian court learning the language, converting to Orthodoxy, and building relationships. She has no legal claim to the throne. Her husband could have her arrested or exiled at any moment. A conspiracy is forming around her.
